Getting to the Retreat: Recommended Travel Plan
To ensure a smooth and stress-free journey to NEMU Resort, we highly recommend arriving in Japan the day before the retreat begins. Here is the most seamless itinerary based on what worked beautifully for our guests last year:
Step 1: Arrive in Japan (September 26)
-
Fly into Tokyo (HND or NRT) on September 26. HND (Haneda Airport) is closer to Tokyo or Shinagawa but either works.
-
Take the Shinkansen (Bullet Train) from Tokyo or Shinagawa to Nagoya on the same day.
-
Relax and spend the night at a hotel in Nagoya to adjust to the time zone.
Step 2: Journey to the Resort (September 27)
-
On the morning of September 27 (the first day of the retreat), take the local Kintetsu Line train from Nagoya to Kashikojima Station (the nearest station to the resort).
-
Plan your train travel so you arrive at the resort by 3:00 PM.
-
Tip: Last year, many guests caught the 1:50 PM shuttle from Kashikojima Station.
Step 3: The Final Stretch (Free Hotel Shuttle)
-
Once you arrive at Kashikojima Station, a free resort shuttle will be waiting to take you directly to NEMU Resort.
-
Don't worry about the logistics! I will personally help you book both your Kintetsu train tickets and your free resort shuttle spot.

Practical Travel Tips for Japan
Navigating transit in Japan is incredibly smooth once you know the basics. Here is everything you need to know about airport trains, bullet trains, and getting around easily.
1. Getting from the Airport to Tokyo/Shinagawa
You generally do not need an advance reservation for airport trains, but you can book ahead if you prefer having a fixed time and a guaranteed seat.
-
From Narita Airport (Narita Express to Tokyo/Shinagawa):
-
Book your seat via the official

-
-
From Haneda Airport (Keikyu Line to Shinagawa):
-
No reservations are needed for this local/express line.
-
See the official
for route details.Haneda Train Information Link
-
2. Riding the Shinkansen (Bullet Train)
-
Reservations: Booking your Shinkansen (especially the fast Nozomi trains) in advance is recommended, though not strictly mandatory unless you have large bags. You can book via the official
.Shinkansen Reservation Portal -
Luggage Rules:
-
Small and medium suitcases easily fit right in front of your seat because Shinkansen trains have ample legroom.
-
Oversized luggage requires a special seat reservation that includes dedicated luggage space. Please review the official
before you travel to see if your bags qualify.Shinkansen Luggage Size Restrictions website
-
3. Station Navigation & Logistics
-
Give Yourself Time: Major hubs like Tokyo, Shinagawa, and Nagoya stations are massive and can be confusing. Give yourself plenty of buffer time for transfers so you don't feel rushed.
-
Accessibility: Be prepared to navigate stations using escalators, elevators, and slopes. Keep this in mind when timing your transfers with heavy luggage.
4. Seamless Travel with IC Cards (SUICA & PASMO)
An IC card is a rechargeable transit card that lets you tap-and-go at ticket gates. Adding one to your digital wallet makes travel incredibly convenient.
-
Apple Wallet Integration: You can seamlessly add a SUICA or PASMO card directly to your iPhone or Apple Watch Wallet app for smart, contactless travel.
-
How to Set It Up: For a step-by-step guide on setting up a digital card, visit the

Resort Shuttle & Taxi Options
1. Complimentary Resort Shuttle (Recommended)
The most convenient way to reach the resort is the free shuttle service running between Kashikojima Station and NEMU Resort.
-
Logistics: I will personally assist you with arranging your shuttle spot!
-
Next Steps: I will email you separately as the retreat approaches to coordinate and confirm your specific arrival time.
2. Alternative Option: Taxi via Ugata Station
If you prefer more flexibility with your train schedule, you can also travel to Ugata Station (one stop before Kashikojima). Ugata is a larger station with more frequent train stops, which can sometimes speed up your travel time. From there, you can take a local taxi to the resort.
If you choose the taxi option, please keep these tips in mind:
-
No Rideshares: Because this is a charming, small town, rideshare services like Uber are not available.
-
Language Tip: Most local taxi drivers do not speak English. We highly recommend having a translation app (like Google Translate) ready on your phone to show them your destination.
-
Recommended Taxi Company: The hotel officially recommends Waei Taxi. If you need to call them, their number is 0599-43-6112 (or +81-599-43-6112 if using an international phone).
